(1) Athletic Journey

Nothing But Passion.

Hi, my name is Alina Limbu, I was born in Nepal and raised in Hong Kong.

I started taekwondo when I was 10 years old. Though I’ve always enjoyed hobbies like drawing and reading, nothing compares to the thrill of landing my first kick or mastering new techniques. My parents enrolled me in a class because they thought it would help me keep fit. With consistency, it went from staying fit to being a part of my identity.

Even with years of training in this sport, I’m still learning to deal with losses and wins, burnout, and most importantly, learning to deal with adversities and having persistent grit. Training and competing is a huge part of my life, and over the years, every training and every competition has been an opportunity to sharpen my skills and grow, and it continues to be. Not just as an athlete but as a person.

Now, as I join DAILYCALI, I’m excited to see what my upper body can do. My understanding of Calisthenics is that it’s more than just a simple bodyweight workout, but about understanding body autonomy. Of course, the first rep isn’t going to be perfect; it will be shaky while others make it seem effortless. All you need is discipline, your body, and bars (this sport is almost free, right at your fingertips! ).

Every time you unlock a new calisthenic exercise, built through discipline and persistence, it’s something that cannot be compared to a gym, and it’s an art form to see what your body can do in this sport. I’m excited for this journey. Hehe :)

(2) Nepalese & Community

Being part of the right community is really important for me. I was raised in a Nepalese community in Hong Kong, and growing up in Jordan brings a heavy nostalgia and a strong sense of belonging.

Representation matters, like many immigrant stories, we face challenges in pursuit of a better life. I take pride in carrying a unique flag shaped by hard work and passion, and I hope to see my people continue to rise beyond their potential, with more voices and faces represented, and most importantly, getting the recognition and the flowers they deserve.

This belief carries into my training. I choose to surround myself with people who are inclusive and who challenge one another to grow and improve.

To me, Daily Cali isn’t just another commercial gym. It’s a space where passion brings people together, and bonds are formed. From self-introductions and warm-ups to the shared motivation in each rep and the camaraderie after sessions, it’s a community that uplifts and inspires.

(3) Beliefs

As an assistant coach and an athlete, I live by three principles. Over the years, I’ve realised consistency, confidence, and community are important, which I find all interrelated.

I’ve experienced this through my athletic career and realised I find it difficult one without the other. Being Consistent in what you do breaks boundaries, and you’ll realise you’re capable of a lot of things. Consistency also builds confidence.

Dr Rob Rotella writes in his book “How Champions Think”,

“I like anyone who’s performing to have an optimistic attitude, because performances go best when the performer trusts her skills and lets the performance flow”.

Being confident is an important tool that carries you further when skills alone fall short. With these two principles in place, lastly, a support system puts the cherry on top.

A strong support system built on shared passion creates trust, encouragement, and bonds that make the journey meaningful and worth it.
