Passion & Purpose: The Journey of Calisthenics Movement & Redefined My Purpose as a Coach

1. The Breakthrough
Exactly one year later, on the very same date, my weighted muscle-up transformed from an unassisted +20kg to a solid +30kg breakthrough.
That is a truly beautiful journey. With my body weight increasing by only 1kg (from 62kg to 63kg), I can now complete 4 clean reps at +20kg, and I have begun experimenting with heavier loads (+35kg).
Continuing to discover fresh physical challenges within this movement journey is a rare gift. That is the absolute magic of calisthenics: it never becomes dull or repetitive.
After 9 years of training, I truly believe I have entered my true peak—both in physical conditioning and mental clarity.
2. Transitioning from Personal Joy to Meaningful Coaching
Yet, after saying goodbye to the immediate high of unlocking a new personal record, I was reminded of a fundamental truth: training is not always glamorous. It can feel mundane and repetitive.
Inspired by a recent conversation with Coach Joanne, I asked myself a deeper question: What are we truly training for?
The Initial Spark:
My earliest inspiration in calisthenics stemmed from pure aesthetic fascination—the desire to unlock impressive skills like the Human Flag or Front Lever. I had a strong fantasy about looking strong, handsome and capable (still half way to go).

The Evolution:
Reflecting on that initial spark sometimes brings a quiet sense of guilt, because that urge to unlock a specific movement is no longer my daily driver, I feel like I betrayed to the community.
However, this shift has made my overall practice far more consistent and mature. I rarely dwell on whether a session is a "good day" or a "bad day". I no longer measure my worth against someone else's past;
instead, I focus on my future self and what I can share with others.
The True Drive:
My current motivation centers entirely on the coaching I deliver in every session.
Without self-discipline and personal practice, there is no self-reflection. Without reflection, there is no insightful observation. And without intentionally designed session plans, our students will not find joy here.
Training is not always pretty, and it can certainly be boring. But when the ultimate purpose extends beyond the workout itself, the monotony disappears.
Because of DAILYCALI, every single repetition finally carries true meaning.
